Who are we?

I’m Toni, the founder of The Wolds Wick Candle Company, and a lifelong, severe asthmatic. For as long as I can remember, I adored the idea of filling my home with warm, comforting scents, but every candle I tried left me wheezing, coughing, or struggling to breathe. Time after time, I had to blow out candles I loved because they simply weren’t suitable for my asthma.

One day, in my little country kitchen nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds, I decided that if I couldn’t find a candle gentle enough for my lungs, I would make one. What started as an experiment quickly grew into a passion. I began researching cleaner alternatives, natural waxes, plant-based fragrances, and ingredients that were kinder to both the air and the earth.
 

That’s when The Wolds Wick Candle Company was born. I chose soy wax for its clean, slow burn and paired it with pure essential oils to create scents that were natural, soothing, and far less irritating than synthetic fragrances. Every candle is cruelty-free and never tested on animals, made with the same care and caution I take for my own health.
 

Each batch is still hand-poured by me, right here in my Yorkshire Wolds kitchen, where this whole journey began. What started as a personal necessity has grown into a small business with a big heart: crafting candles that are gentle, honest, and inspired by the peaceful landscape I call home.
If my candles can bring someone else comfort, whether they have asthma, sensitivities, or simply love clean, natural scents, then every hour spent experimenting in my cosy kitchen has been worth it.
